A journey through dementia with mom

This past week has been a little stressful for mom. We took out the clawfoot tub and have put in a very very nice walk-in shower. It is about 4:30 on Sunday and she just took her shower in there and it was much easier than the tub of course. However she is extremely confused she thinks been owns our house and that we’re living here and she thinks we have another house somewhere. Several times I’ve said Ben doesn’t have anything to do with this house Dale and I have owned this house for years. She goes oh I didn’t know that and then immediately says, you need to talk with Ben if you’re going to get rid of anything. So then I try well I will definitely talk to Ben but Ben knows exactly what’s going on here. Oh good oh good then a few minutes later we need to see if Ben wants to his guns these are his guns. So I try, “These are Dale’s Guns. “
So she’s really struggling on her connection, my connection, and Dale’s connection to this house. I do believe she firmly feels that this is now her home. And I’m not sure how to address that. I told her the three of us live here and we like it very much. But then she continues to bring Ben into the equation. And I just started agreeing with her,” yes we will talk to Ben.”
She is very concerned we are going to get rid of Bens “things.” I reassure her we will check with Ben first.
