Yesterday was Memorial day. And it was a pretty good day. My husband Dale was here, we cooked out, had hamburgers and Mom helped with the salad and set the table. She was still very stressed from Sunday. She didn’t really remember what happened Sunday with Ben, but she knew she was very concerned. I spoke with Ben’s daughter-in-law and she said they were over there and Ben was in bed. I’m not going to go into what she said but I told Mom that Ben was in bed and that Pam was there and he was being checked on. And mom sounded very relieved. It appears she just wants to know somebody is checking on him and is looking after him. I did tell her that right now we cannot really depend on what Ben says when he is being negative. That we need to rely on the people checking on him, we need to rely on what they tell us. She said okay.

Today is Tuesday and Mom and I had a great day. She did call Ben at 9:30 this morning and got him on the phone. And he was extremely lucid and clear and they had a great conversation and she felt really good after they hung up. He did turn his phone off after they hung up with each other. She tried calling him back and his phone went to voicemail so I told her they had a great conversation. She told me she did not remember talking to him. We had that short conversation several times today. We sat on the back porch and we have some adult coloring books and she colored a picture of a couple of ostriches and was able to stay focused for 2 hours! That is absolutely amazing for her. She really enjoyed coloring and sitting on the porch, listening to the train, and the weather was beautiful.

We watched The Great American baking show tonight, had a slice of lemon cake I bought. Now we are calling it a day. I will take days like this and cherish them.
