So yesterday was Sunday. Mom woke up feeling good. She was on board about going to church, so we went to church and then lunch . She had started calling Ben at 7;20 am . I tried to redirect her and I tried to tell her to stop. NO USE! She kept calling, sneaking her phone away to call. He had turned his phone off by 9;00am. She kept calling, filled up his voicemail, and kept calling. Finally he answered, he had been sleeping and was disoriented and she hung up because he was “babbling”. However, she kept calling. Around 4;00pm he answered and told her to ‘”Go to hell” and hung up. Of course, she was confused and couldn’t understand why he was so hateful.
We know he takes medication and is sometimes “unreliable,” so we tried to help her see he was not himself and she should let it go. DID NOT WORK. She by last count called him 23 times yesterday. I know, I know, that is excessive, but we all know, (including her husband, Ben) she doesn’t remember from moment to moment. She then went on to spend 6pm until 10pm, talking about going home. Talking about, “Who owns that house I live in? Ben or me?” Well the truth is Ben owns the house not mom, she sold her house after they had been married for a while. This was too complicated for her to understand. We tried every which way to change her train of thought. After a bit we realized tonight we were in for a long haul. Which we were. We went round and round, up and down, over and over trying to help her calm down. LOOOOOONG night.
Finally she slept at 10:30pm. Upon waking at 5:30 am, I might add, the first thing out of her mouth was. “I need to call Ben and have him come get me.” ” “He doesn’t love me anymore, I have been thrown to to curb, I have no where to live, I am homeless,” and we were off! Dale and I have kept her busy this morning with the grocery store, polishing a brass flowerpot with ketchup, (great brass polisher by the way,) a trip to Lowes’s and now watching Moving Art on You Tube. We are helping her hold off calling Ben until after lunch. He will not remember yesterday at all and we will have to see how their conversation unfolds.
we are a flight with Mom tonight. She was so concerned about ben. We tried everything and nothing worked. Finally Pam called because I texted her and
